We offer both 1 and 2 week courses for you to send your dog on . Dogs are dropped off here Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4pm and Saturday between 5 and 6pm and picked up depending on the chosen training course, either one or two weeks later. This course is ideal for busy dog owners, those going on holiday or who just want the job done. Once your dog is at our location the training begins.
Owner Training
When you pick your dog up we will spend time showing you how to control and implement the newly taught commands.
Socialization
Socialization around other dogs is vitality important. It is needed to eliminate any adverse reaction and have your dog view other dogs as normal, non-threatening, and non-exciting, with this in mind most of the training and feeding will take place in close proximity to other dogs
Week 1.
In the first week we train the basic dog commands of heel (walking on the leash without pulling) sit, down, stay and come, we also start towards advanced training commands ie 1. The automatic sit, this is where your dog will sit whenever you stop walking, 2. Down from distance, your dog will go into the down position from up to 20ft away and hold the position until you release him/her, and 3. to jump up only when called up and when commanded "off" will sit beside you. Both verbal and hand signals are taught. All these commands are taught in the presence of other dogs.
Week 2.
In week 2 we bring your dog to our local park everyday where we will carry out all the commands taught in week 1.This is much more difficult for the dog as there will be real life distractions ie other dogs and people walking about. In this way we can do what we call proof the commands. It is one thing to train a dog in the quiet of a training field, hall or other sterile area and another to train him in an everyday environment.
Bathing And Drying
On the day you pick up your newly trained dog we will wash and dry him/her before you arrive, free of charge

Minimum Standard
Below you will find a video of the minimum standard we aim to achieve on our basic obedience course.
Even the most out of control dog will be at this level by the end of our training.
Our Aim
1. We aim by the end of the course to have your dog walking past other dogs on a loose lead without pulling towards dogs or people.
2. To Sit, Stay and Down on first command in front of other dogs.
3. To stop walking when you do, and not go ahead of you when you stop walking.
4. To go into the Down position from 20 ft away and hold that position until released.
5. To jump up when called up and to get off and sit when told to do so .
6. To make the words "Here" and "Come" clear to your dog and the meaning.
7. Also to sit stay and down stay off lead.
8. We will socialize your dog as much as possible so they become accustomed to being in the company of other dogs .This will help them understand that not all dogs are a threat.
9. If you require help in house training your dog we will give you information on how to best do this (depending on your individual dog) at the end of our course. You will also receive an information pack on completion detailing the training we have carried out.
We believe basic obedience to be a language between you and your dog. When your dog understands this language he/she will be more than happy to obey your commands, which in turn will lead to a calmer dog and happier owners.
