We understand that sending your dog away to be trained can be an upsetting experience for some. Indeed some owners can cry a tear or two when leaving there pet here to be trained.

Usually these same owners cry tears of joy when they return and see their dog now fully under control and happily doing what is asked of him/her.

Unhappy Owners, Crackpots And Website Forums.

We train about 4 dogs week here so around 200 dogs per year. Of these 200 dogs per year we might have maybe 2 unhappy customers so it is very rare. All the dogs receive the same care and treatment as if they were one of our own.

 

Unhappy Owners

On rare occasions there may be a dispute between an owner and us regarding what method of training we use on their particular dog as we train all dogs in different ways here. We do not believe in a one way training solution to suit all dogs and we strive to find a method that will work for both you and your dog. Food rewards will work for some dogs not others, lots of praise will get the desired results from some more, sometimes alfa dog / leader of the pack training is required, then again it can be a mixture of all the training methods that is needed. We do not use food rewards for all dogs as some trainers do because we know it will not work on all dogs. Sometimes we use check chains, sometimes we dont, again it all depends on the temperament of the individual dog. Check chains are just one of many pieces of training equipment we may use these include , praise, food, toys etc, again these are all pieces of training equipment. When used correctly a check chain is fine. It is  easy for so called trainers to jump on the band wagon and quote information on how terrible check chains are...of course they can be when used in the incorrect manor , but the same can be said of everything including incorrect use of a standard leather or nylon collar, again it is all about being shown how to control your dog and how to use the correct equipment.

Sometimes when we explain why we think a certain dog requires a check chain the owner will get upset and no matter what we say they wont be happy. This is the same owner who arrived 2 weeks prior with a dog who was biting them and anyone else he wanted, but who now listens and respects us and the owner and will do what is asked of him. And yet the owner will ignore our advice and go onto some public forum usually boards.ie and put up a post about how terrible we are and how the training didnt work!!

Crackpots

Please read all the post on www.boards.ie and make your own mind up about us. I have responded to most of the posts but no longer do as to be honest the internet is full of crackpots with very little to do except become all knowing and god like on anonymous website forums. Most of who post on these sites about us, have never seen me train a dog or been to my kennels and yet still think they can tell anyone who wants to listen lies about us. There are people who post about us who have posted many thousands yes thousands of post about everything under the sun if you look you will be able to see who i am talking about...as i say CRACKPOTS!!

A couple of owners do have issues with me which is fine but when you have been offering a service and have trained as many dogs as us for as many years as we have you will find it hard if not impossible to keep everyone happy. I say it as i see it, i dont cover it in perfum or pretty it up for anyone, if i beleive your dog to be a danger i will tell you, if i think you are not a good match for your dog and you both would be better off rehoming, again i tell you, i want to help and if that puts the odd persons nose out of joint so be it.

Website Forums

The founder of www.boards.ie actually had her dog for training with us about 18 months ago . Now she never said  who she was until she picked up her dog after we had gone through all the training at the end of the two weeks. She said how delighted she was with both the training and the care her dog had received. When i asked why she had sent her dog here after reading all the posts she said she weighed up the posts and was happy with my replies.

Just a quick email to say thank you for all your hard work with our Newfoundland Kramer.  He is doing great since we got him back, it's been a week now and he is so much easier to manage.  We got our new Newfoundland pup last Monday, and Kramer has been brilliant with her.  I don't think we could have managed the two of them without your help and advice. He has definitely been socialised, and his behaviour is great now.  He is so much calmer and easier to manage.
 

Walking him on the lead is now a pleasure and seriously, my arm is not pulled off me!

We left our Malinios bitch to be trained with Henry and his trainers.
We took a stubborn wilful dog and came home with a different girl!
She now lives in the house is excellent in everyway plus we have a dog that is fully protection trained who would protect us with all she has.I would definatley take any of my dogs to Topdog Training the rates were very fare
and Henry and his team put much more into Tally than they needed to.

Ruby and farah have been great since returning from 2 weeks residential training with you. Ruth my wife has been able to walk them together without any of the previous problems of pulling on the lead; chasing game and have been very obedient always following commands given.
